Moraea

Moraea

a genus of plants of the family Iridaceae. They are perennial herbaceous plants with rhizomes or corms. The thick, leathery leaves (in some species, evergreen) are gathered into a radical fan-shaped bundle. The flowers have six-parted corollas. There are more than 80 species in southern Africa, on Madagascar, and on the Mascarene Islands. Some species are cultivated in greenhouses and homes as perennial evergreens. The plants are propagated by rhizome division, corms, and seeds.
