Light-Shielding Blind

Light-Shielding Blind

a cone- or pyramid-shaped device attached by the narrow end to the lens of a camera during photographing to shield the lens from lateral light rays. These rays cause an undesirable general exposure of the negative, resulting in reduced contrast of the image. The dimensions of a light-shielding blind are chosen so that the rays of light forming the image pass through the blind unhindered. It is covered inside with black matte color.
