Lungu

Died 1581. Leader of a large peasant uprising of 1581 in Lapu§na volost (small rural district), Moldavia. Headed by Lungu, who adopted the name of the Moldavian hospodar loann the Voevoda, the insurgents set out along the Prut River toward the capital of the state, the city of Ia§i. However, the troops of the hospodar sent out to meet them routed the bands of rebels. Lungu drowned in the Prut.
