Lungu, Edgar Chagwa,

1956–, Zambian political leader. Trained as a lawyer, he entered politics as a member of the United Party for National Development (UPND), then switched to the Patriotic Front (PF) and held several ministerial posts, including home affairs, defense, and justice, under President Michael SataSata, Michael Chilufya,
1937–2014, Zambian politician. Sata was a policeman, railway worker, and trade unionist before entering politics in 1963, and was later (1985) elected governor of Lusaka prov.

. He was acting president during much of Sata's illness (2013–14) and became president of the PF following Sata's death in 2014. In 2015, Lungu was elected president of Zambia in a special election, narrowly defeating Hakainde Hichilema; he was reelected to a full term, again defeating Hichilema, in 2016.
