Lika
a plateau in western Yugoslavia, in the Dinaric Alps, between Velebit Range on the west and Kapela and Pleševica ranges on the east. Length, 110 km; width, up to 40 km. Elevation, 500–750 m. It is composed chiefly of limestones and has karst forms of relief. The rivers (with sections that flow underground) on the western edge of the plateau do not drain into the ocean. There is sparse shrub vegetation. The plateau supports pasture livestock breeding and crop farming (grain and grasses).
