Beltsy Steppe
Bel’tsy Steppe
(also Northern Moldavian Lowland Plain, Bel’tsy Plain), located in northern Moldavia in the Reut basin.
The terrain is uniform and gently rolling. The altitude ranges from 150 to 200 m. The Bel’tsy steppe has been almost entirely plowed up; its soils are rich chernozems on a base of loess soils. The predominant crops are wheat, corn, sugar beets, sunflowers, and soybeans. Steppe vegetation has been preserved only in places that are unsuitable for plowing.
