Belushi, John

(1949–82) comedian; born in Chicago. After appearing with the Second City comedy troop in the 1970s, he achieved national recognition in National Lampoon's Lemmings (1973). On the National Broadcasting Company's Saturday Night Live (1974–79), he portrayed uniquely manic characters. He left to star in films, including The Blues Brothers (1980), then died of a drug overdose in California.
