Likénai

an urban-type settlement in Biržai Raion, Lithuanian SSR, located 7 km from the Biržai railroad station. It is a balneological and mud-bath health resort. Summers are moderately warm (average July temperature, about 18°C) and winters, moderately mild (average January temperature, — 5°C); annual precipitation totals approximately 650 mm. The therapeutic agents are mud from peat bogs and calcium sulfate springs, the water of which with the chemical formula

is used for baths. Treatment is available for patients suffering from diseases of the motor and support organs, gynecological diseases, and disorders of the nervous system. The settlement has a sanatorium and a facility for hydrotherapy and mud-bath treatments.
