an urban-type settlement, the center of Masis Raion, Armenian SSR. Population, 8,000 (1973). Masis has a railroad station 14 km southwest of Yerevan. A cannery and a corrugated cardboard factory are located in the settlement. Construction began in 1973 on a wood-joining factory.
