Size: 961 acres.
Established: Designated a national historic site on April 14, 1959; redesignated on September 21, 1959.
Location:Between Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts, off I-95 (Exit 30B). Park visitor center is located on Route 2A west, 1 mile west of I-95.
Facilities:Rest rooms (é), visitor center, museum/exhibit, self-guided tour/trail. Entrance fee required.
Activities:Guided and self-guided tours, interpretive programs.
Special Features:Scene of the fighting on April 19, 1775, that opened the American Revolution, the park includes North Bridge, the Minute Man statue by Daniel Chester French, a number of Colonial houses, and 4 miles of Battle Road between Lexington and Concord. The park also includes "The Wayside," home of authors Louisa May Alcott, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Margaret Sidney.
