Location:At Grand Island Interchange, off I-80 (Exit 312).
Facilities:38 campsites (34 with electrical hookups), modern restrooms, showers, picnic shelters, trail rides, swimming beach, bathhouse, playground, (é).
Activities:Camping, boating (non-motorized), fishing, swimming, bird watching.
Special Features:Park was named for the winter stopover used by Mormon emigrants heading westward in 1884-1885. Mormon Island lies on the eastern edge of the great spring sandhill crane migration route in central Platte River Valley. The cranes begin arriving in early February and spend their days feeding and engaging in colorful courtship dances. After the first of April, the birds start flying to northern breeding grounds and are usually gone by mid-April.
