Neumünster (noI`mün'stər), city (1994 pop. 82,014), Schleswig-Holstein, N central Germany. It is a transportation and industrial center; manufactures include machinery, textiles, leather, and paper. Known in the 12th cent., Neumünster was chartered in 1870.Neumünster a city in the Federal Republic of Germany, in the Land of Schleswig-Holstein; located on the Stör River. Population, 86,000 (1972). A railroad junction, Neumünster has electrotechnical industry and machine-building industry, which produces equipment for food-processing and chemical enterprises. Textiles and leather goods are also manufactured. The city has a textile museum. |
