Overbase Compensation

Overbase Compensation

Salary and fringe benefits paid to an expatriate worker over and above what he/she would have been paid had he/she stayed in the home country. Overbase compensation may be just straight salary, but it may also include free housing, added vacation time and so forth. For example, if one's base salary is $100,000 and one is posted to perform the same work in a developing country at $130,000, the extra $30,000 is considered overbase compensation.
