MiracastA protocol that streams the screen content from Miracast-enabled devices to a TV, projector or monitor that either supports Miracast or has an adapter plugged in (see below). Supporting 1080p video, 5.1 surround sound and Wi-Fi Direct for wireless transmission, Miracast is the non-Apple equivalent of Apple's AirPlay protocol. The first Miracast devices were certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance in 2012. See Wi-Fi Direct.
