A trial that asked whether early, rapid and profound cholesterol-lowering therapy with atorvastatin reduces early recurrent ischaemic events in patients with unstable angina or non-Q-wave MI Conclusion A primary endpoint of major acute coronary events (MACE) occurred in 14.8% of atorvastatin patients and 17.4% of placebo patients (p = 0.05). Atorvastatin reduced the risk of ischaemia (6.2% vs. 8.4%; p = 0.02), but did not reduce the risk of MACE.
