Murashko, Aleksandr Aleksandrovich
Born Aug. 26 (Sept. 7), 1875, in Kiev; died there June 14, 1919. Ukrainian painter.
Murashko studied at the Kiev School of Drawing under N. I. Murashko, at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (1894–1900) under I. E. Repin, and in Munich (1901) under A. Ažbè. His works, which include The Ataman’s Burial (1900), Girl in a Red Hat (1902–03), and A Peasant Family (1913), combine faithful representation of subject matter with decorative use of color. All cited paintings are in the Museum of Ukrainian Fine Arts of the Ukrainian SSR in Kiev.
