There is high water in the spring, but the water level is low the remainder of the year. In the winter, sections of the river with a slow current freeze over. The Murat, which is not navigable, has a large reservoir in its lower course. The river is used for irrigation and floating timber. The city of Karaköse is located on the Murat. MURAT
