Lin, Chia Chiao

Lin, Chia Chiao

(1916– ) physicist; born in Foochow, China. He came to the U.S.A. to study at the California Institute of Technology (Ph.D. 1944), taught there (1943–45), then moved to Brown (1945–47) before joining the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (1947–87). He made major contributions to the theory of hydrodynamic stability (1955), turbulent flow (1963), mathematics, and astrophysics.
