National Association for Practical Nurse Education and Service

 (NAPNES) the first national organization concerned solely with practical nurse education and the services rendered by the practical nurse, organized in 1941. Members include professional and practical nurses, physicians, hospital administrators, other health and welfare workers, and interested lay citizens.
The organization maintains an accrediting program for state-approved schools of practical nursing, provides a consulting service for groups interested in starting a practical nurse program, prepares and publishes leaflets, booklets, and other educational materials for practical nurses, and sponsors regional workshops and summer school courses on practical nurse education and services.
