a city (until 1956, a settlement); center of Novoanninskii Raion, Volgograd Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the left bank of the Buzuluk River (Don basin). Railroad station (Filonovo) on the Volgograd-Povorino line, 281 km northwest of Volgograd. Population, 20,000 (1974). Novoanninskii has an oil-reprocessing plant, a milling and hulling plant, a butter and cheese combine, a meat-packing and poultry-processing plant, a foundry and machine shop, and a brickyard. There is an agricultural technicum.
