Novocheboksarsk

a city under republic jurisdiction in the Chuvash ASSR. Port on the right bank of the Volga, 20 km below Cheboksary. Population, 58,000 (1974). The settlement has the Remstroimash plant, a construction materials plant, and a housing construction combine. There is also a central heat and electric power plant. As of 1974, the Cheboksary Hydroelectric Power plant was under construction near Novocheboksarsk. A chemical machinery technicum is in the city.
