Novomirgorod

a city (since 1960) and administrative center of Novomirgorod Raion, Kirovograd Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. Situated on the Bol’shaia Vys’ River of the Iuzhnyi Bug basin. Railroad station on the T. Shevchenko-Pomoshnaia line. Population, 12,700 (1973). Novomirgorod has a plant that produces construction materials, a tannery, a fruit cannery, and a furniture factory. It also has a livestock-management technicum and a museum of history and local lore.
