Novoorsk

an urban-type settlement and center of Novoorsk Raion, Orenburg Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the Bol’shoi Kumak River (a tributary of the Ural), Novoorsk has a railroad station on the Orsk-Kartaly line, 288 km east of Orenburg. A nonmetallic minerals combine and a grain sovkhoz are located in the settlement. Novoorsk is also known for the manufacture of scarves made of goat’s down.
