(jĕs`əp), northernmost land point in the world, N Greenland. At lat. 83°39'N, it is 440 mi (708 km) from the North Pole. U.S. explorer Robert Peary reached the cape in 1892.Morris Jesup, Cape
situated at the northernmost extremity of Greenland, in the Peary Land region. The cape is a rocky spur of the Roosevelt Range. It was discovered in 1900 by an American expedition led by R. Peary and was named after one of the expedition’s financial sponsors.
