Murcutt, Glenn Marcus

(1936–)British-born Australian architect and winner of the 2002 Pritzker Prize and 2009 AIA Gold Medal. Murcutt’s early work experience was with various architects, such as Neville Gruzman, Ken Woolley, and Bryce Mortlock, which exposed him to their style of organic architecture, which focused on relationships to nature. Murcutt’s motto is, “Touch the earth lightly.” Murcutt considers environmental elements such as wind direction, water movement, temperature, and the light surrounding sites before he designs the building itself.
