Laia a river in the Nenets National Okrug, Arkhangel’sk Oblast, RSFSR, and in the Komi ASSR. A right-hand tributary of the Pechora River. Length, 332 km; basin area, 9,530 sq km. The Laia begins at Lake Laiato and flows through the Bol’shaia Zemlia tundra. Fed mainly by snowmelt, it freezes in October and thaws in the second half of May.
