Nazarovo
Nazarovo
a mountain range in the Zapadnyi Saian, in the southern part of Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. The range is 35 km long and rises to a maximum elevation of 1,642 m. It is composed of chlorite schists, interrupted in the northern part by intrusions of granite. The slopes are covered with cedar, spruce, and fir forests.
Nazarovo
a city under krai jurisdiction, center of Nazarovo Raion, Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR. Situated on the left bank of the Chulym River, a tributary of the Ob’. Railroad station on the Achinsk-Abakan line, 38 km south of Achinsk. Population, 44,200 (1970).
The Nazarovo State Regional Electric Power Plant is located in the city. Nazarovo has plants that produce reinforced-concrete structural members and bricks and a plant producing equipment for the crushing and sorting of gravel and rocks. There are also garment and furniture factories and a milk-bottling combine. Nazarovo has technicums of construction and power-engineering construction, as well as a medical school. There is also a museum of local lore. Lignite is mined nearby, at the Nazarovo deposits. Nazarovo was given city status in 1961.
