MASS II

Medical, Angioplasty and Surgical Study II. A pilot study (40 patients) that assessed the warm-up phenomenon on sequential exercise testing, which is characterised by an increased time to ischaemia and ischaemic threshold. Ischaemic threshold is due to ischaemic preconditioning, which is prevented by a single dose of glibenclamide, a cardiac ATP-sensitive K (KATP) channel blocker, without having an effect on exercise tolerance.
