lymph node necrosis
A nonspecific finding consisting of necrosis within nodal tissue, which can be divided into:(1) Focal necrosis—usually benign, and seen in infection by bacteria, cat-scratch disease, EBV, fungemia, LGV, toxoplasmosis, tuberculosis, tularemia, trauma, vascular compromise, post-vaccination lymphadenitis or autoimmunity (e.g., SLE), mucocutaneous lymph node syndrome or Kawasaki’s disease, necrotising lymphadenitis or Kikuchi’s disease; and
(2) Global necrosis, 80% of which is associated with lymphoma.
