It features: Perry's Victory and International Peace Memorial, which commemorates the War of 1812's Battle of Lake Erie and the 150 years of peace between the United States and Canada; the Magee Marsh Wildlife Area/Ottawa National Wildlife Refuge, consistentlyranked a top 10 birding spot in North America; the Hubbard House, a stopover for refugee slaves fleeing to Canada; and Kelleys Island, which shows the effect of glaciation on the earth's surface. Bywayalso offers excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, and swimming.
Legth: 293 miles. Start/Endpoint: Byway runs along the southern shore of Lake Erie from the Pennsylvania state line to just south of Toledo. Time to Allow: 8 hours. Designation/Year: National Scenic Byway (2005).
