Novotroitsk

a city (since 1945) under oblast jurisdiction, in Orenburg Oblast, RSFSR. Located on the right bank of the Ural River. Railroad station on the Orenburg-Orsk line, 18 km from Orsk. Population, 91,000 (1974; 3,000 in 1939 and 54,000 in 1959). A major center for ferrous metallurgy in the southern Urals, the Orsk-Khalilovo Metallurgical Combine, is located in Novotroitsk. Other industry includes production of chemicals and construction materials. The city has metallurgical and construction technicums.
