Novo Vreme

(New Times), a Bulgarian monthly sociopolitical journal; the theoretical organ of the Central Committee of the Bulgarian Communist Party. Founded in 1897 by D. Blagoev, it was published until 1923 (with some interruptions). The journal was revived in January 1947.

Novo Vreme played a leading role in propagandizing Marxist ideology and in the struggle against opportunism. It promoted the founding of a revolutionary Marxist party of the Bulgarian working class and propagandized ideas of the Great October Socialist Revolution. Since the victory of the socialist revolution in Bulgaria, Novo Vreme has treated the theoretical and practical problems of the transitional stage from capitalism to socialism and the most important issues of socialist construction. In addition, it has dealt with major issues in the development of the world socialist system and the international working-class movement, as well as with problems in the education of the Bulgarian people in the spirit of patriotism and proletarian internationalism.
