Lal, Braj Basi

 

Born May 2, 1921, Jhansi district, state of Uttar Pradesh. Indian archaeologist, specialist in the prehistoric archaeology of the Hindustan Peninsula.

Lal graduated from Allahabad University in 1943. He became director general of India’s archaeological survey in 1968. He directed excavations in Sisupalgarh (Sisulpargarh), Hastinapura, Birbhanpur, Gilund, and Kalibangan. He is one of the researchers of the Harappan civilization.
