(nūr'ō-lept-an-es-thē'zē-ă) A technique of general anesthesia based on intravenous administration of neuroleptic drugs, together with inhalation of a weak anesthetic with or without neuromuscular relaxants.

neuroleptanaesthesia

A form of light general anaesthesia in which drugs that block the normal responses to pain are also used. In some cases muscle relaxant drugs may be needed. The method is inherently stress-free.
