Line of Support

line of support

[′līn əv sə′pȯrt] (mathematics) Relative to a convex region in a plane, a line that contains at least one point of the region but is such that a half-plane on one side of the line contains no points of the region.

Line of Support

A line of support relative to a set M in the plane at a point A of M is a line passing through A such that M lies entirely on one side of the line, or, more precisely, in one of the closed half planes determined by the line. The line of support is very important in the study of the properties of convex regions in the plane.
