(mus'ĕl fă-tēg') A state of exhaustion or loss of strength and/or muscle endurance following strenuous activity associated with the accumulation of lactic acid in muscles.

muscle fatigue

The reduced capacity of a muscle to perform work as a result of repeated contractions and accumulation of lactic acid in anaerobic cell respiration. The fatigue may be partial or complete. See also: fatigue
