Oranienburg has the machine-building, metalworking, food-processing, and chemical industries, the last producing sulfuric acid, carbon black, medicines, and paints. On the city’s northern outskirts, on the site of the former fascist German concentration camp of Sachsenhausen, is a monument to the victims of fascism.
