Oranskie Islands
Oranskie Islands
rocky islands constituting the northernmost islands of the Novaia Zemlia group in the Barents Sea. They consist of two groups: the Lesser Oranskie (Malye Oranskie) in the south and the Greater Oranskie (Bol’shie Oranskie) in the north. With a total area of approximately 3 sq km and an elevation rising to 30 m, the islands are essentially polar deserts. Their shores are sites of nesting colonies of guillemots.
