Orazmukhamedov, Oraz Nazarovich

Born May 15, 1928, in the village of Karadamak, Ashkhabad Raion, Turkmen SSR. Soviet party and state figure. Member of the CPSU since 1948.

The son of a peasant, Orazmukhamedov graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Railroad Transport Engineers in 1959. Between 1945 and 1956 he worked for the Ashkhabad railroad as assistant train engineer, train engineer, deputy chief of track maintenance, instructor in the political department, chairman of the Raion Trade Union Committee of Railroad Transport Workers, and deputy chief of the railroad branch.

Orazmukhamedov first became involved in party and government work in 1959. From 1961 to 1966 he was deputy chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Turkmen SSR, and from 1966 to 1969 secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkmenistan. From 1969 to 1975 he was chairman of the Council of Ministers and minister of foreign affairs of the Turkmen SSR. At the Twenty-fourth Congress of the CPSU (1971), he was elected a candidate member of the Central Committee of the CPSU. Orazmukhamedov is a member of the Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Turkmenistan. He was a deputy to the eighth and ninth convocations of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR.

Orazmukhamedov has been awarded the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, and several medals.
