Moscow Soviet of Workers’ Deputies
formed on Mar. 1 (14), 1917, on the initiative of Moscow workers. From September 1917 the Bolsheviks held a stable majority in the soviet. On October 25 (November 7) the joint plenum of the Moscow soviet of workers’ deputies adopted a Bolshevik resolution and elected a revolutionary military committee, which directed the armed uprising in Moscow.
