Abakan Steppe

a steppe in the Minusinsk Basin in Krasnoiarsk Krai, RSFSR, on the left bank of the Enisei River, between the spurs of the Abakan Range and the Abakan River. From 200 to 500 meters high, the steppe has a flat landscape with a hilly topography in its western portion and many shallow lakes. The chestnut-colored soil and the southern black-earth areas with patches of solonets are predominantly covered with feather-grass and fescue-grass steppes. The steppe is partially cultivated.
