a (usually) software-generated list that is divided into time periods (for example a day or a week) and which looks at all forecast and confirmed orders and compares this to the Bill of Materials for each item together with present inventory levels. The schedule produces a list of items that need to be made from final components, through sub-assemblies and orders material for inventory as required.
