Mosonmagyaróvár

a city in northwestern Hungary in the megye (county) of Győr-Sopron. It is situated on the Lajta River, a tributary of the Danube. Population, 24,500 (1970). The city has agricultural machine-building and textile industries. There is also an alumina plant. Mosonmagyaróvár is the site of an agricultural institute.
