Metal Loom
Metal Loom
an automatic loom for the production of woven metallic screens from various types of wire, such as steel wire and wire made from nonferrous metals and alloys, with round, square, and rectangular cross section. Metal looms are modified textile looms of the same basic design. The continuously repeated motion of the harness, with reeds and shuttles, generates the interweaving of the filling and weft wires to form the metallic screen.
Metal looms are divided into three main groups: looms for fine, medium, and heavy high-density screens. The ratio of the wire surface to the total screen surface is up to 25 percent, 25–50 percent, and 50–75 percent, respectively. Metal looms may produce various types of weaves, according to which a distinction is made among smooth screens with square openings, serge screens with square openings, and filter screens.
