Lipany
Lipany
a settlement in Bohemia, near the city of Český Brod.
Near Lipany on May 30, 1434, a combined army of Catholic feudal lords and Calixtins (about 20,000 men) defeated the field army of the Taborites and their allies (from 10,000 to 12,000 men). Several thousand Taborites fell in battle, including generals who had arisen from among the people, such as Prokop the Great and Prokopek. The battle of Lipany is considered the end of the Hussite revolutionary movement.
