most-active stocks

Most Active List

The list of stocks on an exchange with the highest trading volume, especially on a given trading day. A stock is often listed on the most active list when relevant information on the company becomes available. Being on the most active list is not necessarily positive; that is, the information could be either good or bad, and investors could buy or sell accordingly. Technical analysts may use the high trading volume to determine how strong or sustainable a bullish or bearish trend is.

most-active stocks

Stocks with trading volume high enough to warrant inclusion on the most-active list. Some widely held stocks with many shares outstanding, such as AT&T and Intel, routinely make the list. Other stocks make the list because of special circumstances such as a tender offer or an unexpected news item about the issuer.
