[¦nän′kal·sik ′brau̇n ‚sȯil] (geology) A great soil group having a slightly acidic, light-pink or reddish-brown A horizon and a light-brown or dull-red B horizon, and developed under a mixture of grass and forest vegetation in a subhumid climate. Also known as Shantung soil.
