Landsberg, Helmut Erich

(1906–85) climatologist; born in Frankfurt-am-Main, Germany. He came to Pennsylvania State University in 1934 to teach, then worked at the University of Chicago and in the federal government before settling at the University of Maryland in 1967. He wrote prolifically about the effects of air pollution on humans. At the time of his death he was with the World Meteorological Organization Commission for Climatology in Switzerland.
