(lip'ō-thī'ă-mīd pī'rō-fos'fāt), Name formerly given to the coenzymes of the multienzyme complex catalyzing the formation of acetyl-CoA from pyruvate and involving lipoamide and thiamin pyrophosphate, on the assumption that they were a single compound. See: lipoic acid.

An obsolete term for the co-enzyme required to form acetyl-CoA, which was based on the assumption that lipoaoccidiad thiamin pyrophosphate were the same molecule.
