a city in the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, on the western coast of the Korean Peninsula, in Hwanghae-namdo Province. A transportation junction and port, the city produces foodstuffs, household articles, and agricultural implements. A construction-materials industry is developing.
Ongjin
a peninsula in western Korea, in the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea. It juts into the Yellow Sea for 60 km between the Taedongman and Haejuman bays. Its coast is greatly indented, and there are many off-shore islands. The surface is hilly, with a maximum elevation of 433 m. The main city is Ongjin.
